In the past years, monitoring and tracking sleep routines has been quite popular. With the advancements in IOT, the usage of smart gadgets in everyday lives are now ubiquity.
Google has yet another interesting technological gadget that will test and track the consumers’ sleeping patterns from their bedside. The consumers will no longer have to bother about sleeping on with a smartwatch or a fitness watch in their hands while going to bed. The tech giant will be using a sensor called Soli in the 2nd Gen. Nest Hub which would be using a radar to detect a user’s body movement and the breathing pattern with the rising and falling of the chest.
Upon waking up in the morning, the device further reports even the slightest sound such as coughing or snoring and provides tips on how to improve sleeping at night.
But what about the privacy concerns?
Well, you do not have to worry about actually being watched as the device lacks camera which ensures that it won’t actually watch the users sleep. Rather, the radar waves will be watching the users’ sleeping patterns.
The sleep sensing feature will be available for free for only one year from the launch. Google is further planning to make the feature as a subscription-base from the 2nd year.
